Project Needs

The ECA board has identified two "priority projects" which will be the focus of development for the next year. These two projects are "Dream Big" and "Technology Toolbox". Both are needs that will enable the school to continue to grow and offer more support and services to our constituency and our community for years to come.

Outdoor basketball court

Dream Big

  • Project Description
In the spring of 2008, ECA began to cast the vision for the development of an athletic/multi-purpose facility on the school grounds. This project will be completed in several phases. Phase I will include preparing the site and pouring the floor. When Phase I of Dream Big is complete, the court would look similar to the outdoor court to the right.

  • Rationale
While we strive to provide an excellent education for our students, one area in which that is seriously lacking is physical education and athletics. We have a full time PE teacher, but having no facility greatly limits what can be taught, especially during inclement weather. In addition to teaching students on a daily basis, the school is regularly used for many other community activities such as English outreach activities, youth events, community celebrations, and the meeting place of a new evangelical church here in Camarma. An athletic/multi-purpose facility would greatly enhance our ability to reach out to our community through sports, and musical events, summer camps for kids - all of which are of interest to Spaniards and an open door to building relationships.

  • Financial Needs
In order to complete Phase I, an additional $39,000 is needed.

  • Goal for Completion
Completion of Phase I is anticipated in the fall of 2010.

Technology Toolbox

Technology Toolbox

  • Project Description
Last fall we moved to an on-line school data management system – and while this transition has gone well, it has reminded us of the need to have more computers available for student and staff use. Therefore, Technology Toolbox involves the purchasing and placing a computer in every classroom, and upgrading and outfitting the lab with additional computers to enable us to have a full class there (our current computers are 5 years old). Other technology needs include: A retractable projection screen for our auditorium, 2 additional AV projectors, upgrading our telephone board and desk phones (several have died lately!), and upgrading our library computers and software.

  • Rationale
Every school in the modern age depends upon technology - computers, telephones, software, internet services, etc. Unfortunately, these are not one-time expenses as all technology systems require routine maintenance and upgrades. In order for the school to function adequately and proficiently, in 2010 we need to update the "tools" in our technology toolbox.

  • Financial Needs
Our projected need to update our toolbox is $33,700.

  • Goal for Completion
It is our hope that many of these upgrades can be funded and completed by the spring of 2011.
